DESCRIPTION:As of February 2024\, more than 15% of households in the United States have reported having symptoms of “long covid.” “Long COVID” also know as “long haulers” and clinically as Post Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC) or Post COVID Condition (PCC)\, is documented with more than 200 known symptoms that can affect multiple body organs. People with PCC can take weeks or longer to recover from the condition with some still reporting symptoms since becoming infected with COVID-19 in 2020. What do you know about this condition? How do we get the latest information about “long COVID?” How do you talk about this condition with your doctor? Have you been diagnosed with “long COVID” but don’t know where to get more information? Join Disability Network West Michigan through the virtual webinar series “Let’s Talk Long COVID.” \nJoin us from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. EST on Wednesday\, August 21st and Thursday\, August 22nd to hear from medical\, public health\, and research professionals talk about what PCC looks like\, what health interventions we can use to reduce and manage symptoms\, what PCC may look like for veterans\, and how we can advocate for our own health. \nSome of the speakers for “Let’s talk Long COVID” includes \nDr. Ziyad Al-Aly\, M.D\, the Director of the Clinical Epidemiology Center\, and the Chief of Research and Education Service at Veterans Affairs St. Louis Health Care System and named one of 2024 Time magazines “Most influential in Health.” \nDr. Katharine Seagly PhD\, Director\, University of Michigan Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program Associate Professor\, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation\, and Adult Clinical Psychologist. \nBecca Squires\, LMSW\, Becca is a clinical social worker at Michigan Medicine at the University of Michigan\, currently working in Rehabilitation Psychology\, both clinical group facilitation and program coordinator for the post-COVID and Concussion clinics. \nKrista Coombs Director of Policy/Programs with COVID-19 Longhaulers Advocacy Project and Long COVID Advocate with the Vermont Center for Independent Living. \nDr. Walter J. Koroshetz\, Director of National Institute of Neurological and Stroke (NINDS)\, National Institute of Health (NIH) and the Co-Chair of the RECOVER initiative.
