Lunch & Learn Series: Disability Pride Month

Why is this topic important?

Disability Pride Month, celebrated each July, is a valuable opportunity to recognize and celebrate the history, achievements, and experiences of the disability community. This month highlights how societal attitudes and practices have impacted people with disabilities throughout history, often intersecting with other marginalized groups, such as women and people from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds.

In this training, participants will learn about:

  • Who is Disability Network West Michigan?
  • Understanding the definition of disability.
  • What is Disability Pride Month & why does it matter?
  • Introducing the ADA
  • Disability Pride Flag History
  • Where Do we go from here?

Who will benefit from this training?

  • Employers, government agencies, schools, health care, non-profit, and for-profit businesses. We can present to any audience.
